Silicon Alley Forecast: Clouds Hint at Recession Recovery
Skies are Clear for Start-ups Using the Cloud – A New Series of Silicon Alley Council Forums Examines the Opportunities
The new buzz? Cloud Computing. Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Google, A&T... IT’s biggest companies are investing billions – creating opportunities for organizations of all types. What does Cloud Computing, Saas, PaaS, IaaS mean for New York businesses? For start-ups?
Silicon Alley Council examines the opportunities in a new series of forums, “Silicon Alley Forecasts”
June’s forum kicks off the new series with two approaches to business development: how entrepreneurs can use Microsoft software basically for free and achieve fast start-up, and how development and deployment of “reusable services” within Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) can generate new revenue.
Agenda
5:30pm – 5:45 pm: Introduction and Refreshments
5:45pm – 6:00 pm: Microsoft Initiatives: Gunther Lenz will introduce Microsoft Initiatives designed to accelerate the success of early stage Start-ups by providing software, support and visibility to Start-ups.
6:00pm – 6:30 pm: Reusable Services: Vijay Narayanan will introduce the concept of reusable services and explain how services can be the basis for generating business value, and various techniques for building reusable services as part of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) initiatives.
6:30pm – 6:50 pm: Discussion
6:50pm – 7:00 pm: Raffle: Office 2007 Ultimate
7:00pm – 7:30 pm: Networking
