Cloud Computing. Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Google, A&T... IT’s biggest companies are investing billions – creating opportunities for organizations of all types. What does Cloud Computing, Saas, PaaS, IaaS mean for New York businesses? For start-ups? Silicon Alley Council examines the opportunities in a new series of forums, “Silicon Alley Forecasts” June’s forum kicks off the new series with two approaches to business development: how entrepreneurs can use Microsoft software basically for free and achieve fast start-up, and how development and deployment of “reusable services” within Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) can generate new revenue. Agenda 5:30pm – 5:45 pm: Introduction and Refreshments 5:45pm – 6:00 pm: Microsoft Initiatives: Gunther Lenz will introduce Microsoft Initiatives designed to accelerate the success of early stage Start-ups by providing software, support and visibility to Start-ups. 6:00pm – 6:30 pm: Reusable Services: Vijay Narayanan will introduce the concept of reusable services and explain how services can be the basis for generating business value, and various techniques for building reusable services as part of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) initiatives. 6:30pm – 6:50 pm: Discussion 6:50pm – 7:00 pm: Raffle: Office 2007 Ultimate 7:00pm – 7:30 pm: Networking Speaker Bios Vijay Narayanan is a Tech Lead at a major financial services organization. He has been working for the past 7 years in master data management services, reliable messaging, enterprise application integration, distributed computing, and domain driven reuse. He leads a team, building reusable data services and business services for supporting key business processes. He has a Masters in Information Systems from Drexel University and blogs about software reuse at http://softwarereuse.... Gunther Lenz joined Microsoft as ISV Architect Evangelist. His objective in this role is to build high value relationships with the top 2% of ISV partners in the area. He articulates and communicates the business value of compelling technology strategies to complex business challenges with the ultimate goal to increase the competitive advantage and open new revenue streams. Before joining Microsoft, Gunther worked as a program manager and senior consultant for software architecture at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, NJ. As a result of his work, he published two books (".NET -- A Complete Development Cycle" and "Practical Software Factories in .NET") as well as numerous articles in magazines. Gunther is also an invited speaker at international conferences and received the Microsoft MVP - Solution Architect award in 2005/2006/2007/2008. Gunther received a Masters in EE from University of Munich and recently finished his MBA from NYU, Stern School of Business. Please bring extra business cards for networking & raffle.
